Alternative Investment
Service

Alternative Investments are for the sophisticated investor looking for "Alpha"—returns that are not tied to the stock market. These are investments in the real economy: Startups, Infrastructure, and Creative IP.

The SPEC Alternative Service Lines

01 The SPEC Tech-Growth (Ignite) Fund

The Sector: Africa’s booming Fintech, Healthtech, and Agritech sectors.

Strategy: We provide venture debt or equity to "Series A" startups that have proven revenue and are ready to scale.

The Potential: 20% - 35% Internal Rate of Return (IRR).

02 The SPEC Creative Economy (Inspire) Fund

The Sector: Afrobeats, Nollywood, and African Fashion.

Strategy: We treat a film or a music catalog as a "Real Asset." We fund production and marketing in exchange for a share of global streaming royalties.

The Potential: High-yield, dollar-indexed returns as African culture exports globally.

03 SPEC Hospitality & Real Asset Fund

The Sector: Business hotels, logistics warehouses, and student housing.

Strategy: We provide mezzanine debt to developers to complete high-yield projects. The investment is secured by the physical property.

The Potential: Stable, inflation-protected yields with a tangible asset backing.

Why Alternatives? The "Non-Correlation" Factor

If the stock market crashes, your alternative investments often remain unaffected because they are driven by different factors (e.g., a startup's user growth or a hotel’s room rate). This adds a massive layer of protection to your total portfolio.

  • 1. What is the "Illiquidity Premium"?
In alternatives, you cannot sell your stake tomorrow. Because you are "locking" your money for 3-5 years, you are paid a higher return (a premium) to compensate for the wait.
  • 2. How do you manage the risk of a startup failing?
We use a Portfolio Approach. We don't bet on one company; we bet on 10. The success of 2-3 "Unicorns" more than pays for any losses in the others.
  • 3. Is this for retail investors?
Generally, no. Alternative investments are for "Qualified Investors" who understand the risks and have a long-term capital outlook.
  • 4. What is an "Exit"?
An exit is when we sell the startup to a larger company or when a hotel begins paying out consistent profits. This is when you realize your gain.
  • 5. How does SPEC perform due diligence?
We have a specialized "Alternative Desk" that performs forensic audits on every project, from verifying land titles to auditing software code.
